Planning for Magdalen College School's Science and Library

Our new Science, Library and Partnerships building for Magdalen College School has been given the go-ahead by Oxford City Council.

What makes it special?

- The building supports their ambitious science curriculum, including robotics, AI and Big Data

- Set along a busy thoroughfare into the city, the building presents an important public face of the school. The team crafted a brick facade that is carefully detailed to break up the massing and complement the rhythm of the townhouses opposite

- The school has an inspiring approach to outreach and are excited to offer more to their partner schools, with a dedicated partnerships lab for STEM teaching

- The pupil entrance is a modern take on the entrances to Oxford colleges

- It’s designed to Passivhaus standards to meet the school’s Net Zero ambitions. The pupils are as passionate about sustainability as the staff, which informed the brief.

We look forward to working with the school on the next phase.
